For years, supporters of Israel have denied the “A” word in describing that nation’s policies of privileging Jews over Palestinians. But in recent weeks Amnesty International, one of the most respected human rights groups in the world, issued a comprehensive report documenting and analyzing “Israel’s institutionalized and systematic discrimination against Palestinians within the framework of the definition of apartheid under international law.” AI joins Human Rights Watch and B’Tselem (an Israeli human rights NGO), in concluding that Israeli laws, policies and practices against Palestinians amount to apartheid as a violation of public international law.
Join us in a discussion of the reports findings, parallels in other colonial systems, reaction from US policy makers and ways of advocating for the human rights of the Palestinian people.
